Terms of Service

1. Description of Services

Launchpad STEM Academy provides 1-on-1 STEM tutoring, SAT/ACT test preparation, college & career advising, resume review, interview preparation, and internship referral services, delivered via live online video sessions and, once our physical location opens, in-person in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Services are intended to supplement, not replace, a student's formal education.

Upon purchase, the corresponding session credit(s) are added to your account, tied to the email used at checkout (see Section 4). Credits are used when a session is scheduled and attended.

2. Eligibility & Account Registration

• Most students served are minors in Grades 6–12. For a student under 18, the purchasing account holder must be that student's parent or legal guardian, who confirms they have legal authority to enroll the student and agrees to these Terms on the student's behalf.
• Students 18 and older, or college-track students using Resume Review, Interview Prep, the Resume Review + Interview Prep Combo, or Internship Referral, may purchase and agree to these Terms on their own behalf.
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access.
• In-person enrollment additionally requires a signed Liability Waiver before a student's first on-site session.

3. Payments and Pricing

• All purchases are processed securely through Stripe. By completing a purchase, you authorize us to charge the stated amount to your selected payment method. Launchpad STEM Academy does not store full payment card numbers.
• Prices are listed in U.S. dollars. Full payment is due at the time of purchase unless another arrangement is confirmed in writing.
• We reserve the right to update pricing at any time; price changes do not affect purchases already completed.
• A session credit is deducted from your account at the time a session is scheduled, not at the time of purchase — see Section 5 for what happens to that credit if you cancel, reschedule, or don't show up.
• Packages (5-Pack, 10-Pack, 3-Pack bundles) never expire. Unlike some other tutoring providers, your purchased sessions do not have a use-by date — there is no risk of losing money to an expiration window.

4. Refund Policy

We want every family to feel confident purchasing, including families new to Launchpad STEM Academy with no track record with us yet. Our refund policy is as follows:

General rule: Sessions, packages, and bundles are non-refundable for cash back once purchased — unused sessions instead remain as account credit, which never expires. The exceptions below exist specifically to protect you in the situations where a cash refund actually matters.

Unused & Unstarted Packages: If you purchase a package and have not yet used any session from it, you may request a full cash refund of the entire package within 14 days of purchase. Once any session in the package has been attended, this window closes, and the package reverts to the standard credit-only policy below — the remaining sessions simply stay on your account as non-expiring credit, with no rush to use them.

Why we don't offer open-ended partial refunds after a package is started: because credits never expire, there's no "wasted money" problem an ongoing refund window would need to solve — any session you haven't used yet is still there whenever you're ready for it.

When Launchpad STEM Academy cancels a specific scheduled session: you may choose, upon request, either to (a) keep that session's credit on your account for future use, or (b) forfeit that one session's credit for a cash refund instead — an either/or choice. If the cancelled session was part of a package, the refund is limited to that one session's pro-rated share of the package price (package price ÷ number of sessions in the package); the rest of the package is unaffected. This does not apply to a family's own late cancellation or no-show (Section 5), which remain forfeited with no refund.

Credits and sessions are non-transferable. Purchased sessions and packages are tied to the purchasing family/student account and may not be given, sold, or transferred to another family or student, except as provided under the separate Launch Together referral program.

The Summer Internship Referral Program fee ($249) is non-refundable once the intake interview has been completed, reflecting the placement work performed regardless of outcome.

To request a refund, contact us at [email protected] with your name, order details, and reason for the request. Approved refunds are processed to the original payment method.

5. Session Cancellation and Rescheduling

• 24-hour notice: sessions cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours' notice have their deducted credit returned in full — no penalty, no limit on how many times.
• Late cancellations (under 24 hours): the deducted credit is forfeited.
• No-shows: if a student does not join (online) or arrive (in-person) within 15 minutes of the scheduled start with no notice, the deducted credit is forfeited in full.
• Our cancellations: if Launchpad STEM Academy needs to cancel or reschedule a session, no credit is lost — you get a free makeup session, or, upon request, a cash refund per Section 4.

6. Student Safety & Communication

The safety of every student is a priority. All staff working directly with students undergo a background check before working with students.

• Approved platforms only: tutors and advisors communicate with students and families exclusively through Launchpad STEM Academy-designated platforms. Tutors do not privately message, call, meet, or arrange sessions with a student outside of these channels unless explicitly authorized. Report any off-platform contact attempt to [email protected] immediately.
• Sessions are not recorded by default; if a session is recorded for a specific purpose (e.g., Interview Preparation feedback), this is disclosed and consent obtained beforehand.

7. Acceptable Use

By using the Services, you agree to conduct yourself respectfully toward instructors, staff, and other students. The following are prohibited:

• Harassment, bullying, or abusive language directed at any instructor, staff member, or student.
• Recording a session without the other party's consent.
• Sharing, redistributing, or reselling any course materials, session content, or proprietary content.
• Using the Services to engage in academic dishonesty, including submitting tutor- or advisor-prepared work as the student's own without disclosure.
• Attempting to gain unauthorized access to our systems or another family's account.

Violation of this policy may result in immediate termination of the account and forfeiture of unused credit without refund.

8. Limitation of Liability

Launchpad STEM Academy provides tutoring, test preparation, and advising services to support student learning. We do not guarantee specific outcomes, including particular test scores, grade improvements, or college admissions or internship results — these depend on many factors outside our control, including the student's own effort, attendance, and third-party decision-makers.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Launchpad STEM Academy's liability for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Services is limited to the amount you paid for the specific session(s) or package giving rise to the claim, except where a signed Liability Waiver provides otherwise for in-person, premises-related claims. Launchpad STEM Academy maintains general liability, premises liability, and professional (errors & omissions) insurance appropriate to online and in-person educational services.

9. Intellectual Property

All content provided through the Services — including curriculum materials, worksheets, advising frameworks, diagnostic assessments, and the Launchpad STEM Academy website and branding — is the property of Launchpad STEM Academy or its licensors and is protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property law. You may use this content for the enrolled student's personal educational purposes only and may not reproduce, distribute, resell, or create derivative works from it without our prior written permission.

10. Modifications to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time, including pricing, cancellation windows, and program availability. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms; the version accepted at the time of a specific purchase governs that purchase.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Miami-Dade County, Florida.
